Okay...I think I can do this now.

It took me a full hour before I could speak coherently again, I kid you not. When I say I'm "flailing," I usually mean it as a figure of speech. Ohhh, not this time. I literally FLAILED. Like, waved my arms back and forth like a madman screaming bloody murder. I wish I could have gotten my reaction on tape, because there was babbling, crying, jumping up and down in the seat--the works. I don't think I've reacted this way to an episode since the season one finale, where I screamed so loud I actually woke up my sister (this was about 4 am or so.) Ohh, the traumatization. Kripke still hasn't paid my psychiatric bill.

The other day, a friend told me that "back in the day," people used to think a woman getting hysterical meant her uterus was trying to move up towards her brain, and the only way to coax it down was by giving her flowers. Now that I think about it, he may just have been seeing if I'd fall for it, and, if so, bravo dude. Apparently, it's not very hard to get me to believe crazy shit. Err, what does this have to do with Supernatural again? Oh yes...I need some flowers.

A couple of things...

I feel really, ridiculously shallow right now, but Sam looked so so soooo good tonight. The hair is finally tamed (rawr!), and I'm never going to tire of him in blue stripes. I mean, Sam always looks hot, but sometimes, through no fault of his own, it's hard to notice much else when Dean "Hotty McHottenstein" Winchester is around. He should probably look into getting an average looking sidekick, or something. Anyway, there was no outshining this time, unless you think it went the other way around, and I COMPLETELY agree with you in that case. Sam was smokin' tonight. "Rawr!" again (but for entirely different reasons.)

I became suspicious of Ava the moment I saw her. She was kidnapped from her bed, right? She shouldn't have been fully dressed. At least, that's what set it off in my mind. It's probably not even relevant, because she wouldn't have anything to change into when she first showed up five months ago anyway, right? Ahh, the continuity hurts my brain.

I still think the whole Evil!Ava thing is hilarious, by the way. Let me explain. Remember when she was first introduced, and the entirety of SPN fandom just LOVED her? There were a lot of very specific "She's sooo much better than Jo." reviews. It's pretty ironic that she turned out to be an evil, deceptive bitch, and Jo's the nice one who just wants to follow in her father's footsteps. Somewhere, a short man with receding hair is cackling.

I want to say the biggest suprise of the episode was Mary's "It's you!" statement, but I read someone's theory that Mary was probably supernatural in some way, so there was no novelty in the reveal. Kudos to whoever that was, by the way (I half suspect it's just Kripke trying to stir up some debate. That man makes me paranoid of posting in forums.) The crib scene flashback made me notice something--when Mary sees John asleep in the living room, she rushes upstairs without waking him. Could that imply she had no fear of a robber or whatever she thought the YED was? It's very possible she was just in a hurry to get back to Sam, but, when you think about it, it wouldn't have taken more than two seconds to wake him up. Hmmmmm....

I'm so glad Sam didn't try and finish off Jake. It might have cost him his life (maybe?), but at least he didn't play the YED's game. Was this what John was referring to when he implied Sam could turn evil? If so, we're officially safe from Sam ever turning evil, right? Right?

Favorite part is when Sam sees Dean for the first time--his face just lights up. If you'll allow me: AWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! *melts into a happy puddle of goo*

As he's holding Sam, Dean makes a lot of "calming" remarks. At first, I thought it was a little strange because Sam obviously didn't need calming--he's just sorta slumping there. Then I realized Dean wasn't saying it for Sammy. HE needed the calming. *sigh* Oh, Dean. *perfect, single Jensen!tear*

Stuff I liked:

- "Bring me some pie!"
- Andy's earcuff. Hee.
- Eva took Lily out first. Okay, I didn't like that. That sucked. I just liked the thought that was put into it. Lily's obviously the most powerful, so it makes sense to get rid of her first. Good thinkin', SPN writers.
- As Ash does his "shifty look" on the phone with Dean, a cowboy walks by that looks a lot like Ennis from Brokeback Mountain.
- D. Hasselhoff. Hee.
- The conversation between Sam and Jake about keeping the others calm. Aw, that was cool. We barely knew ye, Jake.
- YED has been steadily losing hair since the incident in Sam's nursery. What? His head looked fluffier!
- Ash has a tattoo that reminds me of Plastic!Dean's "Sam" tat.
- Andy needs to broadcast gay porn into MY brain.

Can't wait 'til next week. I didn't watch the previews, so do your best not to spoil! :-)

Okay *sigh*...I think I'm good. I went into this episode completely unspoiled, which made it that much better. Is it just me or did that seem like a fanfic? Maybe not the kind of fanfic most of you are reading *cough*, but definitely like something I've read before. Err, oh wait. I know! I'm going to feel like a HUGE dork for saying this (yes, even more so than usual), but the entire plot for this episode already happened on "Batman/Superman Adventures." Only, Batman figured it out when he discovered he couldn't read (since the side of your brain that reads is different from the side that dreams.) *really amazed I never got beat up in high school*

So, I'm seriously starting to wonder if the whole Dean/Sam hug thing (or LACK OF) is entirely intentional on Kripke's part. Dean barely even knew Jess, but she gets this gigantic bear hug?? Then he shook Sam's hand!? Come on. If I have to quote "Tommy Boy" again, there's gonna be trouble up in this joint.

Next week, though...

Looks like we finally get a hug! Well, more like desperate clinging but, hey, you take what you can get. *shrug*

ETA: So, it turns out we're all going to die tonight. At least, that's what my parents and their crazy "This is the big one!" babble seem to suggest. See you when the storm is over. *grudgingly shuts off the computer for a few hours*

Dean is velvety smooth

Did you know that cwtv.com posts new SPN episodes within hours of airtime? I was all ready to angst over missing the new eppy tonight, then there it was. So much love for the CW right now. I might even forgive their woeful promotional efforts of the show. Eh, we'll see May 17th.

This episode was ten kinds of awesome, and I'm tempted to draw little hearts all around John Shiban's name. Everything about it was just fabulous, and there was never a moment where I felt bored or disconnected with the plot. I liked it even better than "Nightshifter," which is A LOT coming from me. dot_warner had to listen to my running commentary as I watched, so we must pity her poor sanity. She's already got lawschool finals this week--she didn't need my big bag of crazy added to her own. :)

Random thoughts (in chronological order!):

-Sam is 6'5", and Dean is 6'3"? *COUGH* Poor Jensen. Apparently 6'1" isn't good enough in Padalecki World.

-Hee, Blue Steel. His is less dorky than Jared's.

-OMG, the first person coming out of the prison bus looks Native. *bows head in shame* He looks like a friend of mine, even.

-The Texas line was a cute little diss. But guys? I thought the meta episode was last week. :)

-Sam's hair looks fantastic! If this keeps up, I swear I'll never complain again. Um, until next season, that is. I can make no promises if the hair stylist suddenly decides to go all "Flock of Seagulls" on us.

...I have no idea where that thought came from.

-Dean's cigarette pile is friggin' adorable--much like Dean himself.

-Gratuitous violence ftw!

-Sam is sneaky! ...like a ninja (though pirates are still way better.)

-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!

-Poor, giant Tiny.

-"You heard in the yard?"
"Yeah."
"Dean, does it bother you at all how easily you seem to fit in here?"
"No, not really."

-Oh god, Sam saying, "Don't give me that look!" was like the cutest thing EVER, and I have no idea why.

-The guard called Sam "sweetheart." Sina shifts uncomfortably.

-Dean is velvety smooth :D

-Dude. Random guys get to hug the boys, and they still can't hug each other? In the immortal words of Chris Farley, "Brothers gotta hug!"

In the end, I still didn't understand the ghost's motivation all that much, but will pay closer attention on rewatch. I haven't flist-drifted yet, but everyone on my own gave it a positive review so far, which is a lovely sign. I really hope we got good ratings tonight, because that was a damn near perfect episode. If I had to pick an episode with which to say "This is Supernatural," it'd be this one (minus that whole Yellow Eyed Demon thing, but Sam fangirls would rather ignore that anyway.)

On a final note, I'm glad the whole "smoking" issue with Dean was finally laid to rest. We've never seen him smoke, but a line from "Born Under a Bad Sign" raised the question, and now we have the answer. Everyone knows only evil versions of people smoke (or have goatees.) If you're guilty of either, you are the doppelganger. Besides, smoking would stain those perfect pearly whites.

Urm, my sister is scaring/amusing me with comparisons of Tony Lucca and Jensen Ackles. Strangely enough, her logic is actually making sense, which means it can't really be logical at all for NO ONE BUT THE PADALECKI IS AS HOT AS THE ACKLES. And that would be my cue to sleep. :-)

Poor Supernatural. It's like this: Supernatural really loves its fans and is a natural people-pleaser when it comes to them. It desperately seeks their approval, so it starts roaming the internet trying to figure out exactly what they want. Then it tries to act accordingly, by throwing in Gilmore Girls references, gratuitous crotch shots, Sam staring at Dean's mouth in a fashion that can be interpreted ten different ways, and Gary Cole (because fans secretly want Gary Cole to appear in everything.) But the fans are fickle, you see. "What?" they cry, "You're giving us everything we want? No! You can't do that! We hate it!" Thus, Supernatural is left alone, confused, and dateless for prom.

It's okay, Supernatural. Screw prom. We can hang out at my house and watch "Maximum Overdrive." The entire soundtrack is AC/DC, and screw what everyone else thinks, because, damn it, you love AC/DC.

I liked this eppy. Hell, I'm so relieved to have a new SPN after so long, it could've been much worse and I probably still would be ridiculously happy. Fortunately I didn't have to test that theory, because this just wasn't as bad as some people are making it out to be. Sure, it seems a tad bit out of place directly after "Heart," but maybe we can take it as a good sign the boys are acting mostly normal. Sam is either repressing some pretty heavy emotions or finally making peace with his inner emo. Or, there's the third possibility that Sam and Dean took a weekend off between episodes to talk about their feelings and hug...a lot. Hey, I can dream. In the words of Chris Farley, "Brothers don't shake hands! Brothers gotta hug!"

A few thoughts:

-I loved the beginning where the tour guide is announcing they're at the Gilmore Girls set and that they might see one of the show's stars; Sam literally bolts from the bus. Oh, that is FABULOUS. Just before he does, Dean gives him a double thumbs up that is just so, so cute. I almost missed it, I was so preoccupied with Sam's trembling lip or whatever. He's either whimpering or cursing (it looks a little like both.)

-If you watch the whole sequence where the boys are walking, basically giving a rundown of why they're here, closely, you'll notice there are some funky props and people goin' on by. And those giant pine trees in the background? Heh. Didn't know they had those in L.A. *notices a spot on the carpet* Um...yeah.

-Love, love, LOVE Dean as a P.A. The whole "basically slaves" things seems like an inside joke. But DEAN. He found something "normal" he likes to do. *smishes*

-I am mesmerized by Dean's mouth. Even if there is a disgusting hunk of delicious, minature philly cheese steak sandwich hanging out. Thank you, eppy, for reminding me I love BOTH of the Winchester Boys (my Jared preference and the Sam-centric "Heart" forced an unfortunate bias lately.)

-Sam's got this perma-"incredulous" face on the entire episode. It's both a "Dear God, this guy is related to me" and "I'm genuinely surprised at the way Dean falls so easily into this job" expression.

-I have totally seen that "Three Men and a Baby" screen shot Dean is talking about, and it scares the hell out of me.

-I actually don't care much for the Monster-of-the-Week story this time around. I just want Dean to wear that headset FOREVER.

-"And this summer they're coming back again to settle the score...again."

-In the scene where the director is talking to a gather group of crew members, there is a woman on the left side of the shot that looks suspiciously like Jensen & Jared's makeup girl. While the guys are walking up to the crowd, you can see a someone that looks a little like their stylist just over Jared's shoulder. I wondered if the extras roaming around on set were the actual show crew or not.

-"You know, maybe the spirits are trying to shut down the movie because they think it sucks. Because it kind of does." *snort*

-The shotgun head ghost? Fugly.

-Dean is one hell of a P.A. \o/

-Hooray for teamwork! I just gotta wonder why Sam doesn't have a weapon on him in the first place, though.

-Walter is torn apart by ghosts, while everyone just kinda watches. Geez, Walter, didn't you watch "Faith"?

-They walk off into the fake sunset. Dean takes one last moment to check out of the ass of a passing woman, then Kripke and Singer remind us who's responsible for all this.

A HUGE thank you to girlgeek , whose questionable file sharing activities led me to obtaining a copy of tonight's episode. I changed my mind about letting you have my first born, though. You may have to settle for a glomp, or something equally exciting.

I swear, this wallpaper is going to be the death of me. I wrote a nice, long rant about all the trouble it has put me through to make it (which includes everything with image hosting problems, to Photoshop problems, to not being able to decide what opacity to use on each of its many, many layers.) Then I turned everything nice and thoughtful, with a description of why I used the poem. So what happens next? LJ eats the post (you see that dent on my desk? That's from my head.) I decided I'm still going to share it, but, be warned, it's very likely cursed.

The poem on the wallpaper is "How Do We Forgive Our Fathers?" by Dick Lourie. I admit, I know nothing about the author or the original inspiration for the poem. I first heard it at the end of "Smoke Signals," and thought it was very touching and fitting for the movie. If you haven't seen it, the movie follows two young men, Victor and Thomas, on a roadtrip to retrieve the ashes of Victor's dead father. It is basically Victor's journey from embitterment for a father who abandoned him as a child, to acceptance and eventual forgiveness of the man. Like almost everything to do with family turmoil, I instantly related the poem to the Winchesters. Here's the original text of the poem, in case I did end up losing the battle of the opacity:

I really wish I could find the audio from the movie, but, alas, youtube has failed me yet again. So did ImageShack, for that matter. Photobucket doesn't let you keep photos at any size larger than 800x600 (foiled again!), so it was really my only convenient option. You know the way ImageShack assigns random letters to the end of your file names? Well, my file was called "fathers," so it decided adding "ex5" to the end of that was really the only logical option. You do the math and tell me this wallpaper isn't cursed.

I heart "Heart"

The episode, not the band. I don't heart Heart. Though I've never really listened to Heart, so I can't actually say I don't like them. Really, my judgment at this point is just plain unfair. That's it, I'm downloading some Heart.

Hmm, "Magic Man" looks promising. *rocks out* Now I've got my soundtrack and I'm ready to go!

In lieu of an actual (and long overdue) recap of "Heart," I've opted for the lazy route. That's right, folks, I'm doing a picspam. *the world rejoices and, just for a moment, all is well *

This eppy has been recapped to death and with damn good reason. However, dot_warner sent me a copy I could actually screencap (avi is such a bitch sometimes), so I figured it was too good of an opportunity to waste. Also, I looooove doing picspams, so there's another reason. I've already done DeVour and Cry_Wolf. I think you may be seeing "House of Wax" sometime in the near future. Hell, I'll watch it again if it means another opportunity to scream in horror at Jared's death. *gasp* Did I just spoil it for you? *grin* What a bitch I am...spoiling "House of Wax." *shakes head* On to teh pretty!

Initial reaction: Hmm...well, that wasn't too bad.

What more can I say? It was definitely interesting, but I'm not going as far to say I didn't like it. Different, but in a non-offensive way. I felt really far from the boys this week. Does that make any sense? Like an outsider, meeting these "Winchesters" for the very first time. At no point did I feel personally involved in the "journey" of solving the mystery here. But they knew what was going on all along, so how could I? The outsider perspective very much added an atmosphere to the episode.

The lighting this time around was so, so dark. I had to watch a crappy, snowy, taped version, so it annoyed me more than anything. I'm sure I'll be awed by teh pretty when I get it on Xbox Live, but for now I'll stick with whining about it. I didn't see any "creepy brick road," despite what Dean says.

There's another thing. Dean was such a dick this time, especially in retrospect. He knew Molly was a ghost all along, and he still opted for the black & white "I don't like 'em" view of ghosts. Hell, he said so straight to her. I know he has his reasons for apprehension, but come on. Molly was so non-threatening, it kinda makes you question his motivation here. Oh, I still love Dean, to be sure. He's just woefully ignorant when it comes to paranormal cultural sensitivity :-)

On the bright side, Sam was so great this week. At first, it seemed like Jared had a hard time getting in character (maybe he was so caught up in the latest episode of Degrassi, he couldn't focus?), but then we got to the scene where he explains why spirits don't cross over, and guh...I'm dead. Sooo beautiful. Man, I love SuperSweetSensitiveYetNotEmo!Sammy. The "lost and in so much pain...they lash out" line had me whimpering. And that he wanted to bury the body of the hanged woman? My god. If there were ever an episode to tip the scales of my strict Bi-Winchester lifestyle, it'd be this one.

Key word is "if," people!

I knew there was going to be some sort of twist at the end. There's no way I could be so confused an entire episode without a good reason. I began to touch on it a few times, but never quite reached the correct conclusion. For example, they make a big deal about finishing the case before sunrise. I had huge problems with this while it was happening. I told Marc about it:

Me: "What? That doesn't make any sense! If all they're doing is burning a corpse, why do they need to do it before sunrise? I mean, wouldn't it be way safer to burn the corpse without the roadkill dude there?"
Marc: "Well, they've got to find that girl's husband."
Me: "......oh. I guess."

And then the "almost there" moment. You can practically hear the cogs turning in my head, trying so hard to come to a conclusion.

Me: "The way Sam's explaining about ghosts not letting go...it's like he's telling her directly. Why? Is it because her husband is dead and he's trying to get her to move on?"

Overall, I'd have to say I liked the episode. Besides the lighting, there was nothing really wrong with it. I guess I was just wishing for something a little more earth-shattering after such a long wait. Oh well. I think this is a good starter episode, if you decide to take Jared's recent advice to try convincing someone to sit down and watch with you.

I've decided to confine my angry rants to MySpace. Myspace is where evil blogs, after all. Livejournal is my happy zone and, damn it, I intend to keep it that way.

So, I picked up "DeVour" the other day. Before you me give the whole, "But that movie is horrible!" speech, rest assured I did my homework before buying. I knew it was bad, I expected it to be bad, and I wasn't disappointed. I DID get a whole bunch of pretty Jensen screenshots, so I'm convinced it's the best $5 investment I made all weekend.

Prepare to be spoiled! (I mean, it's "DeVour"...you don't really care, right?)

So, the movie starts out fine. I didn't expect to find myself screaming, "OH MY GOD, WHAT TRASH!" two minutes into the film. Actually, I think Jensen in camo is the best way to start out any movie. Hollywood should make that a standard from now on.

Very quickly we have our first "WTF??" scene. Jensen's character, a strapping young fellow named "Jake," kills a cougar. He's hunting, so that's not really odd in itself. Though, I did have to raise my eyebrow at the following "tear the animal's heart out of its chest" sequence. Maybe there's something I just don't know about hunting.

*skips a bunch* If you want plot, watch the movie yourself. You'll have to suffer through quite a bit of confusion, but you do get pretty stuff like this:

So more stuff happens...I guess. Jensen's some sort of computer technician, and he's absolutely adorable as he goes about his job.

Then there's a party scene. Here we have the patented, "OMG, I remember that!" face.

I love his expression in this one.

Dean can fit an eerily large amount in his mouth

This recap is longer overdue, so I'm going to jump right into it.

This eppy put a smile on my face that hasn't left yet. So many great little moments. Overall, there wasn't anything new in the way of plot development, but we did get some nice character moments. The most revealing part, I think, were the little back and forth scenes with the boys about the way they retold the story. The first one happened in the bar, where Sam finds Dean wasted and with a scantily clad woman named "Starla." I believe he calls her a "feisty little wildcat," which almost made me laugh through her name. Dean slyly proclaims, "She's got a sister," and I died a little from happiness. He's tryna get Sam to pull a double hookup with him. Sooo funny.

The story is interrupted by Dean, and he protests that it didn't happen that way (the woman's name wasn't "Starla," for one, but he couldn't remember what her name actually was.) We are then treated to Bond-style Dean oh-so-smoothly wooing a "classy chick." She continually tells him how attractive he his, and he interrupts with, "Thanks. No time for that now. You need to tell me about this urban legend. Please. Lives are at stake." Heeeeee!

Then Sam comes in with a total bitch!face on, pursing his lips together, and is like 'OMG DEAN, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?? STOP BEING SUCH A HORNDOG CAUSE WE, LIKE, TOTALLY HAVE WORK TO DO *COCKBLOCKS AND IS SNARKY*' Of course, Dean hears this as, "Dean, this is a very serious investigation. We don't have time for any of your bla-blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah." *snicker*

As funny as this is, it's easy to forget that the way the guys re-tell it is a reflection of the way they see each other. Sure, it's over the top. The guys ARE pissed at each other, after all. But tone it down, and we find that Sam sees his brother as horny and unfocused. Dean, on the other hand, sees Sam as a prude, annoying, and a little bit gay (come on, I HAD to say it.) Later "point of view" scenes reveal similar attitudes. Sam thinks Dean is unprofessional (the mouth full of food as they're checking out the professor's office), and Dean thinks Sam is overly sympathetic and emotional (hugging the frat guy). The brotherly fighting just killed me this eppy, the humor/"aww brothers" thing being too much to handle.

The excessive boobage and horrendous cheesy aspect had her leaving quick. Why, universe? Whyyyyy?

Oh, and does anyone else think the blonde one is weird looking?

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Today is also the birthday of my cousin, Angel, and another guy I know, Rueben. I'll be spending the day singing "Happy Birthday," and watching my ex play "Oblivion." Valentine's Day really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Truth be told, I'm so sick of relationships right now, I'm relieved I don't have to spend today doing "couple stuff." Plus, I can get "Pirates of the Caribbean" Valentines tomorrow at half off. Tell me that isn't cool!

I gave away one valentine today, and it was to a pretty deserving person.

There were almost too many things to love about this episode. The fact that the way Sammy turns "evil" is by drinking forties and smoking menthols XD. I'm surprised he didn't grow a goatee just for this eppy. Like "Evil Spock"...he has a goatee, and therefore must be evil. It's one of the most basic laws of television, people!

Err, how am I going to do this? I did the whole stream-of-conscious writing, but I warn you that is makes little to no sense and is very fangirly. I could write an actual review. Ehhh....we'll do both. I'm both a fangirl and an objective viewer!

With all that went on, surprisingly little ACTUALLY happened. Sam didn't actually turn evil, and Meg is in hell once again. It did establish the lengths Dean will go to avoid killing Sam. The moment where Sam's got Jo tied up, and Dean doesn't look like he's going to do anything about had me in tears. (Or would've, if Sam didn't look so damn hot at that moment. As long as he keeps doing those sexy little smirks, Evil!Sam is more than welcome to make another appearance IMHO.) Dean, don't make promises you can't keep. Sam's just gotta make his puppy eyes 'o doom, and you're like putty in his paws. Unless, of course, he's asking you to kill him. Then you just look all anguished and torn, and I just want to glomp you.

The thing with the other hunters? Pretty damn scary. I worry for these boys, and it looks the world is slowly becoming a more hostile place towards them. I mean, if Gordon found out about Sam's powers through the Roadhouse, who's going to be the next hunter who comes after him? And what was significant about the guy Possessed!Sam killed? Was there a specific purpose behind that, or was it just to show that the demon was going after hunters in general?

The ending was okay, though I felt Sam was a little too accepting of what he'd done under the influence of the demon. Maybe he's just getting better at controlling his raging angst/"everything is my fault" attitude. Granted, this really wasn't his fault, but then I might be too used to him angsting over everything. Or maybe having Dean around really does make everything okay (I'd like to think so!)

Erm, I don't think "angsting" is an actual word. That's it, I'm done until next week. *L*

One final thought: Anything significant about the title? If so, I didn't catch it.
